
For the following studio task our challenge was to take a food product photograph. It would be up to us as to what food product we would use and we were required to experiment with lighting and props.
I chose to shoot a prawn cocktail as I felt all the different colours and textures would make it an interesting product to shot, I also used an antique crystal plate to bring a touch of elegance to the picture.
I used three soft boxes to create lighting effect, one to the rear of the product, one above and
a smaller one to the left hand side this helped create a ring of light around the product.Before making the cocktail up I experimented with the angle of lighting this meant when I was fully ready to do the shoot all the food produce would look as fresh as possible and I also added the paprika at the very end to avoid it running into the sauce.
I experimented with the angle of the shot I was taking, depth of field and also displaying the props, such as the fork or the salad, in a different way to create a different effect.
I edited my preferred shots on Photoshop to clean up and brighten the image.
